Why are Tulips Toxic to Cats

However, the plant is known for its beauty which makes the garden alluring, but on the negative side it may cause several health issues in cats raising the query are tulips harmful to cats.

The tulip plant is rich in glycosides, which contain a group of toxins known as Tulipine which is allergic to humans as well as animals too. It has less impact on humans as they don’t consume it while cats and dogs are prone to digging and can consume tulips when digging the tulip garden.


Signs and Symptoms of Tulips Poisoning on Cats

All parts of the tulips are not harmful still some may be toxic on consuming in a considerable amount and it can be noticed quickly. Be careful when your cat have these indications

  • Excessive Drooling

  • Mouth irritation.

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Difficulty in breathing

  • Increased heart rate.

These might be the indication of cats allergic to tulips. However, the impact may vary depending upon the amount of tulips they have consumed.
